HDSSZ_AI System Engineer, AI COE

Position Description

The AI System Engineer, AI COE is responsible for the deployment, code management, quality control, and integration of AI-enabled solutions for the HAECO AI Centre of Excellence (COE). He/She serves as the technical delivery and assurance role that turns AI prototypes and pilots into secure, maintainable, and production-ready solutions. Working closely with Data Scientists, Business Analysts, IT Infrastructure, Security and Application Delivery teams, the System Engineer ensures every AI solution is built, tested, integrated, monitored and governed across HAECO Group’s digital and IT ecosystem.

What You'll Do

• Build, configure, and maintain pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps Pipelines, or equivalent platforms. Build and maintain automated testing frameworks (unit, integration, regression, performance) tailored to AI/ML solutions and agentic deployments.
• Manage source code repositories, branch policies, pull request processes, access controls, and release tagging for AI COE solutions.
• Perform code reviews and technical assurance of AI-generated and human-written codes to ensure quality, security, maintainability, and alignment with development standards. Develop and maintain AI solution environments across development, staging, and production.
• Work closely with Data Scientists to operationalise models, agents, and AI solution components into production-ready services.
• Design and implement API connections, system interfaces and data pipeline integrations required for AI solution delivery.
• Contribute to the governance of the central agent and model repository, ensuring version control, audit trails, and rollback processes.
• Support the evaluation and onboarding of new AI development tools and platforms, providing technical assessments of their quality, security, and fitness for HAECO's ecosystem.

What You'll Need

1.Functional and other Relevant Experience

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, DevOps, MLOps, data engineering, software engineering, or application delivery roles.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with CI/CD pipeline design and management (e.g., Azure DevOps Pipeline, GitHub Actions, etc.). Proven ability to review, refactor, and ensure code quality — including AI-generated code — with awareness of downstream impact, maintainability, security and performance.
• Practical experience with source control platforms (Azure DevOps, GitHub or equivalent), including repository management, branch strategies, and pull request workflows.
• Familiarity with AI/ML solution deployment including model serving, agent orchestration, and API integration.
• Experience in AI agent development and deployment is advantageous.
• Experience in working with Azure AI Foundry is advantageous
• Experience working in cross-functional Agile teams with business analysts, data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, infrastructure teams, and vendors.

• Developing Self/Others: Conduct regular code reviews, knowledge-sharing sessions, and upskilling workshops to build verification and secure-coding capabilities across the AI CoE team.

 3.Qualifications and other Relevant Knowledge

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related fields.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems engineering, DevOps, data engineering, software engineering, or application delivery roles.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and understanding of their outputs and limitations is advantageous.
• Fluency in English is required. Cantonese and / or Mandarin are advantageous.
