Position Description
Reporting to the General Manager of Global Engine Support (GES), the Safety, Health, Environment and Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing all Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) activities across the business to ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, promote a culture of continuous improvement for the business, align the business with Group direction, and support improvement initiatives across the organization. The role is responsible for helping to ensure that the business operates responsibly, safely, and efficiently. Each pillar plays a vital role in protecting people, the environment, and the organization’s long-term success.
What You'll Do
- Safety: Focuses on preventing accidents and hazards in the workplace.
- Health: Involves risk assessments, training, and protective measures to safeguard employees.
- Environment: Aims to reduce GES’s carbon footprint and water consumption, and effectively manage waste.
- Quality: Ensures that products, services, and processes meet industry standards and customer expectations.
- Develop and implement Safety, Health, Environment & Quality programs in accordance with business needs, and ensure full compliance with the latest legislation and Company requirements.
- Develop the business-level safety plan, lead and support its implementation, and monitor its effectiveness.
- Develop the business-level Sustainable Development Plan.
- Chair the GES Main Safety Committee & Sustainability Committee (including Customer Complaints).
- Develop an entity-wide program of regular safety audits and site inspections to ensure compliance, support external safety accreditation audits, and formulate corrective and preventive actions as appropriate.
- Lead at least one safety audit and inspection at each facility per year.
- Using data analysis, identify and quantify Safety, Health, Environment and Quality-related issues within the business and recommend appropriate improvement plans and methods of deployment.
- Develop, own, and align the Regional Business Continuity Plans.
- Oversee investigations into all Level III and higher occurrences and follow up on recommendations in consultation with the local SHEQ teams.
- Maintain ownership of the Cost of Non-Quality (CONQ) event register, coordinate investigations and follow-up actions, and develop actions and strategies to reduce CONQ costs to the business in accordance with budgetary targets.
- Report on all Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality activities to the General Manager for inclusion in the MBR.
- Liaise with Group Safety & Quality (GSQ) and Group Sustainable Development (GSD) Department on behalf of GES.
What You'll Need
1. Technical and other Relevant Experience
- Able to travel to GES facilities around the world.
- Strong data analysis and analytical skills.
- Good understanding of Business Improvement / LEAN principles and tools.
- Knowledge of SHEQ standards and requirements.
- Able to effectively communicate across multiple cultures.
- Able to take broad, strategic view and identify common themes and opportunities across multiple locations.
- Ability to deliver objective investigation reports focused on establishing root causes.
2. Qualifications and other Relevant Knowledge
- Recognized degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Safety, Business Improvement, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality and/or Business Improvement, preferably within the aviation industry.
- Operational experience in an engine maintenance environment is an advantage.
- International experience is an advantage.
- Excellent command of English, both spoken and written; proficiency in Chinese would be an advantage.
