Assistant Material Management Manager, Stores

Position Description
Manage and maintain efficient daily stores and tool room operations, ensuring accurate inventory control, timely material issuance, and adherence to safety protocols.
What You'll Do
• Develop and enforce comprehensive compliance processes and protocols to ensure adherence to regulatory and procedural standards specific to warehouse storage operations.
• Supervise the implementation of corrective and preventive actions to address quality concerns within the storage function revealed in internal and external audits.
• Collaborate within the Stores team to design and implement staff competency programs to ensure personnel possess the necessary skills for efficient storage and inventory management.
• Evaluate and optimize warehouse activities and workflows (including binning, picking, stock-taking and replenishment) to identify and implement efficiency improvements in space utilization and material handling.
• Oversee budget compliance within the stores function, address discrepancies, and formulate strategies for cost optimization in storage and inventory management.
• Analyze inventory data, storage utilization reports, and customer complaints to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions for efficient inventory management.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives with other departments (Production, Production Planning) to improve inventory accuracy, material availability, and overall supply chain efficiency.
• Research and evaluate the potential benefits of implementing advanced warehouse automation (e.g., automated storage and retrieval systems), and real-time inventory tracking technologies to optimize stores operations, space utilization, and picking efficiency. Advocate for their implementation when they align with business needs.
• Promote professional development within the stores team through coaching, mentoring, and providing opportunities for skill development in areas like inventory management and warehouse operations.
• Monitor and analyze key stores performance indicators (KPIs) such as binning lead time, demand fulfillment lead time and inventory accuracy to track progress towards established goals and identify areas for improvement.
What You'll Need
• Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or relevant disciplines.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English and Chinese.
• Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma / 5S Management is an advantage.
• Professional accreditation in Project Management / Supply Chain Management / Quality Assurance is an advantage.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant supply chain management experience, preferably in the aviation industry.
• Experience in aviation spares/tools receiving & inspection and/or dangerous goods handling is preferable.
• Experience in leading a sizable team.
• FAA/EASA/CAD Aircraft Maintenance Licence holder is an advantage.
